I've been investigating a couple of new blogs, in addition to the couple that I visit regularly. (Those being www.dooce.com and www.thepioneerwoman.com) Dooce doesn't cook. At least she doesn't post any cooking stuff on her blog. Then my friend, Barb, recommended PW to me and I've been hooked ever since. I love her photos, especially those she takes and posts for recipes.
PW finished her Lodge Project and has been hosting events and such. She's had some visitors, like bloggers www.smittenkitchen.com and www.bakerella.com. So, of course, I had to check out those blogs, too. Darned if I didn't enjoy those blogs and their photos, too.
I told John we needed to get a digital camera this morning. Now, when I said it I wasn't thinking about the ease of posting pictures online, but almost as soon as the words came out of my mouth, that thought was there. It must have been there all along, of course. So then my mind wandered along. I was going to make some eggs and nonchalantly offered my services to anyone else who wanted an egg. Immediately I had two orders. One included a request to throw a little ham or turkey in his scramble. I chopped up some leftover ham, and folded in some shredded cheese and a drop or two of milk and butter. Some seasonings, etc. The result tasted yummy (or so they told me).
Then, I proceeded on to my usual, a fried or poached egg, with a slice of cheese and ham, on toast. I love this with a glass of ice cold milk.
Certainly not gourmet and these dishes would win no beauty contests.
Smitten posted pickled grapes.
Bakerella has a luscious post of flourless chocolate cake.
PW posted a quiche. Hmmmm,...
If I had a great digital camera and paid really close attention to PW's photography section and learned to really make some gorgeous pictures, could I make a wimpy fried egg with leftover ham chunks and a slab of melted cheese on toast beautiful enough to inspire?
Sounds like a challenge to me.
