I'm fighting a nasty chest cold and I feel moderately horrible. This morning I got up at 5:50, and took a long, steamy shower, which seemed to help. Then, since I forgot to last night, I washed and dried Ruthie's coat and snowpants and whipped out a quick draft of this note. (All I have to do is add a couple finish lines and post). --all before anyone else got out of bed.
Wonderful.
I even managed to catch the early bus this morning!
Yesterday morning, to get the kids happily and easily out the door to church, I bribed them with a promise of candy from the store after church, if they cooperated. They had an extra long Sunday School session, making costumes for their program next week.
But they did not forget that promise. They told everyone in their class, including their teachers that mom was taking them to the store to buy them candy. Such a moment of pride for me. I was sleeping yesterday when John took the kids on an errand and when he called me from the road, I didn't get up to answer the phone. It was 5pm and they came back with BK for dinner.
Today for breakfast Ruthie had 1 cold waffle, 2 peanut butter waffles, and lemonade. And a BK cheeseburger.
I'm a bad mother.
Then again, with a temp of 100, I got 3 loads of laundry done last night and one more this morning. I got 2 kids up, dressed, and fed breakfast. I got lunches packed and we all got out the door in good time. Everyone's at their designated places and it's Monday morning.
John did WAY more than me this weekend (thank goodness) in terms of parenting. But, ya know, everyone made it through the weekend with reasonable humor and we're all still tickin' this morning. Probably, I'm not that terrible of a mother, but a couple of those things above, well, let's just say I'm not taking great pride in myself for them.
Sometimes it just works out that way.
